BetterTouchTool is a deep input-customisation and automation tool: trackpad gestures, mouse buttons, Stream Deck, custom triggers, window snapping and a launcher. Supermac is narrower and keyboard-first, with a launcher, AI, window snapping and a set of everyday Mac utilities.
BetterTouchTool wins on gestures, triggers and device customisation. Supermac wins when you want a keyboard-first launcher with the daily utilities already in it.
Last checked October 2026. Competitor notes summarise BetterTouchTool's official documentation and can change; each row links its source. Every Supermac row links to a shipped feature documented on this site.
Keyboard-first, not gesture-firstYou want a launcher and hotkeys to do the work, without configuring gestures and triggers per device.
Everyday utilities includedYou want File Shelf, break reminders, translation, screenshots and AI in the same app as search.
A smaller surface to learnYou prefer a focused set of features over a customisation tool with a large trigger list.

FAQ
Is Supermac a replacement for BetterTouchTool?
Only for the keyboard-first parts: launcher, window snapping, AI and built-in utilities. It is not a gesture or input customiser, so BetterTouchTool goes much further there.
Does Supermac support trackpad gestures?
Gestures are not part of the current Supermac feature list. Supermac's documented controls are keyboard shortcuts, the launcher and plugin commands.
Do both have AI?
Yes, in different shapes. BetterTouchTool builds custom AI agents on OpenAI, Anthropic or local models. Supermac has a built-in AI chat with your own key or a local Ollama or LM Studio model.
Which one is better for window snapping?
BetterTouchTool offers more ways to trigger a snap: drag, shortcut, gesture and custom snap areas. Supermac keeps snapping keyboard-first with halves, thirds and corners from the launcher.
