macOS permissions
Which permissions Supermac asks for, what each one enables, and where to change it.
How permissions work
Supermac asks for access only when a feature needs it. Every permission is optional: you can say no, keep using the rest of the app, and grant it later in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
After changing a permission, quit and reopen Supermac if the feature still behaves as if access was denied.
The permissions overview collects the same list with the privacy answer and the common permission questions on one page.
Accessibility
Lets Supermac control windows, search menus and insert text for you.
Where: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility
Supermac asks the first time a feature needs to control another app, such as snapping a window. If it is already on but the feature still does nothing, turn it off and on again, then quit and reopen Supermac.
Screen Recording
Lets Supermac capture your screen for screenshots and other screen tools.
Where: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording
macOS asks the first time you take a screenshot. If captures come out empty or black, turn Supermac off and on again in that list, then quit and reopen the app.
Input Monitoring
Lets Supermac use global shortcuts, snippet triggers and the app switcher.
Where: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring
This is separate from Accessibility. Grant both when a feature needs to see a shortcut and act on it.
Automation (Apple Events)
Lets Supermac run Finder and system actions when you explicitly ask it to.
Where: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation
macOS shows the Automation prompt per app that Supermac is asking to control. It appears only when you run an action that needs it.
Full Disk Access
Lets features that need protected local data read files they would otherwise be denied.
Where: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access
Most people can leave this off. Grant it only if a feature tells you it needs protected local data.
Calendars
Lets Supermac show your next meeting and search calendar actions.
Where: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars
Supermac requests this when a calendar feature is used; it is optional and can be revoked at any time.
Reminders
Lets Supermac search and complete reminders.
Where: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Reminders
Supermac requests this only when you use a reminders feature. It is optional.
Contacts
Lets Supermac find people from the launcher after you grant access.
Where: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Contacts
Access is optional and can be revoked at any time.
Camera
Lets Supermac show a local camera preview and run optional break presence checks.
Where: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera
Grant this only if you enable a feature that uses the camera. It is optional.
Microphone
Lets Supermac use microphone input for dictation or media features when you grant access.
Where: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone
The microphone is used only while a feature that needs it is active.
HomeKit
Lets Supermac search and run Home scenes, lights, switches and accessories.
Where: System Settings → Privacy & Security → HomeKit
HomeKit access is requested by Supermac's HomeKit helper app, so the prompt may name the helper rather than Supermac.
If a permission was denied
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and open the section the feature needs.
- Turn Supermac on in that list.
- Quit Supermac, open it again, and retry the feature.
